What You Can Do Before We Arrive

  1. Leaking faucets must be repaired prior to resurfacing. We can't refinish a surface where leaking water is present.
  2. Clean all surfaces that are to be refinished and the surrounding areas, including ceilings and heating or air conditioning registers before our arrival. This will reduce the chances of dust or other contaminants falling into the coating during the drying process.
  3. Remove all loose items prior to our arrival. This includes shower curtains and rods, shower doors, mirrors, appliances, tables, pictures, accessories or any rugs. If we remove or move any items at your request or, if we must do so in your absence in order to proceed without loss of time, we will not be responsible for accidental damage.
  4. In order for our 6 Year bathtub resurfacing warranty to be in effect, we must resurface the area of the bathtub beneath the drain. Your existing drain must be removed prior to resurfacing the tub and a new drain installed no sooner than 24 hours after resurfacing is complete. (1) You may have a plumber do this for you, or (2) Guaranteed Resurfacing Co. can remove the drain at the time we resurface your bathtub and install a new one afterwards. If you choose to keep your existing drain and have us mask around it, then our warranty will be for 1 Year only.

Why is replacing the drain so important? Because a little water tends to remain around the drain area after bathing and this area is the most common place for bathtub resurfacing to fail. The best way to prevent moisture from causing the finish to fail at the drain is to make sure that there is no coating edge in this area. If the drain is removed first, then we can refinish the tub below the area where the drain seats against the tub. When the new drain is installed after resurfacing, it will seal against a completely refinished surface, thus insuring that pooling water won't get under the finish and cause it to fail.

Terms, Conditions, and Disclosures

The following information is important for you to know and is included on the work order that we will ask you to sign before we proceed with resurfacing your bathtub or countertop.

Removal and reinstallation of plumbing items and shower doors: You authorize us to remove or loosen handles, spouts, drain pieces, overflow drain covers, and other plumbing hardware including shower doors as necessary. If these parts appear to be reusable, we may try to replace, re-attach, or re-install them in order to help you avoid the expense of calling a plumber.

Sometimes due to age and degraded condition, these items may break during removal or reinstallation, or we may feel that we are unable to remove them. We are not responsible for breakage of existing plumbing items while attempting these kinds of repairs.

Colors and Surface Textures: DuraGlaze ™ Our standard color is white. All other colors, including off-whites, require adding pigments. We cannot guarantee an exact match to any existing color or sample. StoneCoat ™ is multi-colored and variations in color and texture are unavoidable. Samples should only be considered to be an approximation of the final finish. The actual color and texture of your new finish will likely vary slightly from color samples on our website or from physical samples that you may have been shown.

Existing Surface Conditions: DuraGlaze ™ and StoneCoat ™ are sprayed coatings. Both coatings cure to form a solid surface that will bond and conform to your existing surface. In repairing damage and imperfections, we will try to make these repairs undetectable but some minor flaws may still be visible after the new finish is applied.

Protection from Overspray and Dry Dust: To protect areas adjacent to the resurfacing work, we must mask those areas. Masking tape can pull wallpaper or paint away from the wall when removed. We make every effort to be careful when removing masking tape, paper and plastic, however we are not responsible for accidental damage to wallcovering or paint caused by removing masking materials.

We will cover the surfaces of floors and furniture near and outside of the masked area in order to prevent a heavy accumulation of dried overspray from floating and settling on furniture or floors, and we will remove all masking and plastic before we leave. However, some drifting and settling of dust is unavoidable.

Materials and odors: We use powerful exhaust fans to remove resurfacing odors and fumes from the resurfacing area, and in most cases odors are minimal after a just a few hours. However, fumes from the refinishing process are toxic and we strongly advise that customers and their pets remain clear of the resurfacing area during the resurfacing process and for several hours after the process is complete. This is essential for anyone who has asthma or any respiratory problems.

Most customers choose to be away from the house during the resurfacing process, but if you must be at home while your tub or countertops are refinished, please make arrangements to be comfortable away from the work area.
